The Jaguar
Vanden Plas Rear Seat

The Vanden Plas rear seat is a very comfortable place to be. The all Connolly Leather hides that give the same lovely aroma as Rolls Royce and Bentley are second only to them in ultimate fit and finish. They are sculptured perfectly to pamper the occupants on journeys both long and short. Rounded rear head rests add an extra air of exclusivity, privacy, and comfort found only in the best motorcars.

Jaguar claim in a promotional video that I have seen, that they have first pick of the best veneers in England--even before Rolls and Bentley. The end result is stunning, but after ten years, my wood is beginning to fade some. The center arm rest, like its front seat cousin, is spot-on in its placement. The experience is further enhanced by the executive reading lamps on the "B" pillars and additional lights built into the back of the front seat head rests. The fold down picnic tables have little round felt inserts--just the right size for that leaded crytal glass of cream sherry. For even more storage, the arm rest and a compartment under the rest both open for storage of small items like sun glasses and CDs.

All is not perfect in Jaguar land, though. Rear leg-room is a bit cramped for longer legged passangers if the front seat occupants don't move their seats forward a bit. Otherwise, it is just about perfect. The car has that silky-smooth ride that Jaguars are known for, as the VDP carries on the great tradition set by the late Sir William of " Grace, Space, Pace"
