Wheels
Modification: I special ordered four 18" aluminium wheels made by Forgeline of Ohio (USA). These wheels are similar to my first choice, HRE Wheels, but are at a significantly less cost than HRE ($1,200 -vs- $750 per wheel). Forgeline Wheels are awesome, no? I ordered them with a light silver paint in the center and polished (lacquered) rims. The center hex cap has a custom made Jaguar "Growler" logo. When new the lacquer was great, but after the first winter, there were all kinds of spots and belemishes that developed underneath the lacquered surface. /bin/bash: s: command not found with excellent results. More maintenance, but brighter shine. The tires Custom 18 were Dunlop SP9000 245/40-18, Z-rated, but the last tire change I went to Nitto 555s--good, but not as great as the Dunlops. The grip and braking improvements are appreciated every time I drive this car. Effect: While still very expensive, this is the one of the more significant upgrade to the car for two reasons. First, the handling (in concert with the Bilsteins and the tires) is about 30% Stock XJ-S Lattice Style Wheel better than stock. And second, the appearance is absolutely stunning. Even non-car enthusiasts pause to look. I am very happy with this mod and would highly recommend it to any XJ-S owner. P.S. In case you are wondering about clearance problems, this set-up is actually 1/4" less circumference than the stock Lattice wheel that came on my 1989.
